Over the 100 years since the Panacea Society
was founded people from Bedford and beyond
have been keen to discuss the religious sect
located behind the high walls on Albany road.
Visitors to the Panacea Museum are always
eager to tell us what they knew of the group
that was, until recently, the stuff of local legend.
In response we have developed an exhibition that
focuses on the complex history of the Panacea
Society and Charity to mark the centenary of the
During the exhibition there will be a chance for
visitors to share their memories of the Society and
we would particularly like to hear from anyone who
knew any of the members of the Panacea Society.
