Big Garden Bird Watch
by Museum Director Zara Matthews
This weekend is the RSPB's Big Garden Bird Watch. At lunchtime we had a go at spotting birds in the Panacea Gardens.

Blue Tit
We have many small birds visiting the Garden of Eden, including Great Tits, Blue Tits and Long Tailed Tits, as well as Robins (there was some discussion today as to whose garden it was), and Gulls, Magpies, Doves and Pigeons, a Crow, and not seen today but often spotted - a Red Kite. There was also a very cheeky squirrel who, not satisfied with digging up bulbs, was attempting to hijack the bird feeder.
Spotted too: a cheeky squirrel
We are currently working on our reserve collection of pictures, and found this little gem of two Great Tits. It appears to be a print, probably early 20th century stuck to a black board. There is a mark suggesting is was a homemade calendar. The calendar has been removed and someone kept the picture.

Big Garden Birdwatch is the UK's biggest citizen science wildlife survey. By taking part, you can help us understand how our garden birds are doing right now.
