Woman shall inherit the Earth

Category: Exhibitions

July 12th - August 26th, 2018

Bang! With a crash, the apocalypse is here...
or was it a slow, steady decline...
or a revelatory rebirth?
WOMAN SHALL INHERIT THE EARTH
Female visions of Apocalypse, Utopia & Dystopia
More than twenty-five female artists from Bedford to Syria, New York to Ukraine present their visions of apocalypse, utopia and dystopia in this group show curated by NOHAT.
Ranging from the deeply personal to the universal, this cross-generational group of international artists address topics as diverse as environmental destruction, ageing, consumerism, war, genetics, religion and spirituality.
Be prepared to be surprised at what you find in these female imaginings of a world not yet here.
Painting, sculpture, installation, video, photography and textiles are all represented, and there will be specially created performances at the opening and at various times during the exhibition.
NOHAT, was founded by curators Sophie Atkins and Ana Ortega, was born out of a frustration that the work of female artists often remains unseen and unrecognised, and out of a deep desire to bring about a change. ‘We are not going to wait to be invited in, we will take space and make space for female artists.’
