A favourite of many local residents, the Panacea Museum’s Tea Shop has had an upgrade, and it is now sited in the refurbished ‘Haven’ building which adjoins Castle Road.
The new Tea Shop area at Museum promises to serve up the same friendly service and affordable tea, coffee and snacks in a beautiful heritage environment.
Visitors can also make use of the new patio area in fine weather, which has a view over the lawn and is overlooked by apple trees.
The Founders’ House (Number 12 Albany Road) rooms which formerly housed the refreshments area are now being put back to their original 1920s style. Museum staff are using archive photographs and documents to recreate the ‘Breakfast Room’ as Mabel ‘Octavia’ Barltrop would have known it. So there will be more to discover at the museum too.
The Tea Shop is open 11am- 4.30pm until the end of October, during Museum opening days Thursday – Sunday.
